With chilly fall and cold winter days ahead, we know we’ll be dreaming of those warm days on the beach and hot nights at the firepit. To keep the vibe going all year, we checked in with resident expert DJ Chachi, aka Scott Petrizzo, from 4AM. The music talent management and events company based in New York City, specializes in live performances for the nightlife, events, and weddings industries. With a focus on DJs, producers, and other live music entertainers, 4AM has worked with hundreds of artists and venues, leading to thousands of events, since their inception in 2010.

The traffic eases up, and the right turn down Old Montauk highway seems a little smoother than summer’s rush. The lineup of occupied lounge chairs that once faced the water now cluster around the fire pit, the glasses of rosé turn into hot toddies — and just like that, my favorite time at Gurney’s has arrived.

As the seasons change and our tans fade away, there is so much to look forward to in the fall on the east end. While summer is considered peak season for most visitors to Montauk, the insiders know not to underestimate the fall and winter. There are delicious farm stands and tons of family-friendly kid approved activities, cozy fireplaces and warm cocktails to enjoy, and endless dining options and wellness activities to partake in during the off seasons. The swarms of weekend warriors dissipate after Labor Day, and you can be sure you’ll get a parking spot in town. To most onlookers, the Hamptons will always be a summer-specific destination, but those in search of cooler-weather activities wait until the leaves start to change to visit.
